Israel comes to life in your own backyard! Shinshinim are 18-year-old Israeli emissaries who spend a year with RCFI, working to bring Israel and Israeli culture to Long Island and Queens.
Our Millie & Larry Magid Shinshinim Program creates a unique Israel engagement opportunity for more than 30-day schools, synagogues, and JCCs to provide informal programming that builds Jewish identity and educates about the Jewish homeland.
Shinshin live with host families who may include children living at home, “empty-nester” couples, or grandparents. Hosting a Shinshin is a unique and meaningful way to connect your family to Israel, learn about Israeli customs and culture, and perform an act of tikkun olam.
HOSTING OPPORTUNITIES“Coming to the United States and being at the JCC has exposed me to all different types of people and how they connect with Israel. By being here, I bring Israel to the community. Now, when they visit Israel, they will always have a friendly face to visit.”
—Tomer K., former Shinshinim
